Årets låt varje år - Life on Mars

Om jag var tvungen att lyssna på en enda låt dygnet runt resten av mitt liv så skulle det vara Life on Mars med David Bowie. Första gången gavs den ut på hans album Hunky Dory 1971 och på singel gavs den ut 1973.

Bakgrunden är att Bowie i slutet av 1960-talet hade författat en text till Claude François och Jacques Revaux franska sång Comme d’habitude. Den hette Even a Fool Learns to Love. Rättigheterna till denna köptes av Paul Anka. Han skrev en egen text och kallade sången för My Way. Den versionen sjöngs senare in av den ej helt obekante Frank Sinatra.

Bowies text kom aldrig att användas och som svar skrev han Life on Mars?, som delvis liknar My Way i sin struktur och till sina ackord.
